Attach up to 10 Pictures to a Outbound MMS
Users can attach up to 10 pictures to an outgoing text message destined for a phone number that is MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) ready. Typically this service is only supported on cellular phones on the North American phone system.
Outbound Pictures are Scaled
There are restrictions on the size of the data payload that can be attached to a text message. Typically the total data is limited to 5MB. Especially relevant is the fact that most new smartphones upload images that are large (10MB+). These large images will not fit through the MMS system. To address this issue, UberSmartPhone (USP) silently scales down the images uploaded by the user should this be required. The more images that are attached to a single message, the more USP scales them down to make them fit. Therefore the images that are received on the other end will not have the same resolution as the original image on the phone.
Furthermore users should be aware that uploading 10MB+ image files can take a few minutes using a smartphone. The cellular network is generally designed to deliver very fast download speeds and not so fast upload.
Inbound Picture Messages
Inbound pictures message are recorded in the dialer Messages tab for all the agents sharing a phone number to see. Furthermore, the system sends copies of MMS messages to all agents that are on-duty when the message arrives.
Long Term MMS Storage
Inbound pictures messages are physically stored at Twilio until the user deletes them. Users alloted 5GB of space for MMS storage. When the 5GB limit is exceeded Twilio will charge the user storage fees that are quite small.
Scaled outbound pictures messages are physically stored at UberSmartPhone (USP) until the user deletes them. The cost of storing these files is included in the UberSmartPhone (USP) monthly fees.
